Bio

 

Felix Degenaar is a jazz pianist and keyboard player. He graduated in 1998 at the Conservatorium in Groningen as a professional pianist Jazz and Popular Music. After his graduation he taught at the conservatory for some years. These days he teaches at a private music school located in the Ceramstraat in Groningen. He regularly teaches courses and workshops in music related subjects.

Every other Saturday he hosts the jazz jam sessions at Le Petit Théatre in Groningen. He organises jazz concerts with small line-ups at DOT (Vrydemalaan in Groningen) and Cappuvino (corner Grote Markt / Vismarkt in Groningen).

 

Ever since 1989 Felix has been a part of several bands and ensembles as pianist, arranger, band leader and/or keyboard player. These include bands like the Hasan Band, Aquarela do Brasil with singer Izaline Calister, Organic, Noordpool Composers Orchestra, Sweet Thing and the jazz quartet Up North.

Felix composes music in various styles ranging from jazz to techno. His influences and tastes are diverse. To name just a few: Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Brad Mehldau, Weather Report, Steely Dan, Tribal Tech, Scott Kinsey, John Adams, Jozef Zawinul...
